Mersin İdmanyurdu (MİY) football team in 1983–84 season. In the start of season the president was Mehmet Fatih Deveci. Later Haluk Ulusoy became the president. Previous season MİY was relegated from the first division for the fourth time. In 1983-84 season, the aim was to promote again, but the dream did not come true.

1983–84 league participation

Mersin İdmanyurdu took place in Group B in Second League 1983–84 season. League played in three groups two with 16 teams and one with 17. Bottom two teams in each relegated to Third League, whereas top teams promoted to First League at the end of the season[1]. MİY fought for group title with Altay and finished Group B 2nd with 19 wins and 53 goals.

1983–84 UEFA Cup participation

MİY represented Turkey in Cup Winners' Cup in 1983–84[9]. In total MİY 0-1 lost against Spartak Varna from Bulgaria at first round. In 16 May 1984, Juventus (ITA) beat Porto (POR) 2-1 in Basel and became champions.
